Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - CBT - is proven to be very effective in helping people overcome difficulties such as:

  • anxiety
  • phobias
  • anger
  • depression
  • panic attacks
  • lack of confidence

With CBT you will not spend time examining the past but will be helped to move forward in the area of difficulty. How you think about something affects the way that you feel and the way that you behave. CBT works by helping you to change negative or problematic thinking and to change the way that you behave. CBT will help you to break the cycle of difficulty that you have got into where feelings and physical sensations reinforce your negative thinking and affect your behaviour.

As an Educational Psychologist I have experience and training in adapting CBT for use with children and young people

CBT can bring about change very quickly in 8-20 sessions of about 45 minutes.  Timings may be altered for children. You will be asked to do short activities between sessions in order to help you to break the cycle and overcome your difficulties.
